Back in 5...

After 10 days of posts, I'm taking a little break to reexamine what I'm doing here. It's really been a lot of fun to do these posts, but a lot of work and what I'm doing here largely seems to be falling pretty flat. If anybody has any ideas of what kinds of things they'd like to see here, I'm very open to ideas. There's a great community of passionate vintage country music fans I'm hoping to tap into, and I want this blog to be a place for people to share their knowledge and love of the music. Or, I guess I have to decide if it's worth doing for my own enjoyment. It is fun, but it'd be more fun to have you all play along.

Since I can't resist the chance to share a great song, here's one for today anyway. This is another one of those great honky tonk shuffles with biting pedal steel that I find irresistible. Check out the great harmony vocals on this one too. Seems I'm somehow drawn to these songs about being lonely...

I for one enjoy this blog, I like to just dip in & listen.
Yes, it's older stuff but no less vibrant for all that.

@ plasticsun - Glad you found us! And glad you like the Justin Tubb track - my favorite by him.

If you've not already checked out Harlan Taylor's Roger Miller Warped CD he posted recently at VMIMC, this track is on there as well as it's one of Roger's songs, and it's him on harmony vocals. Here's a link if you haven't already been there:

Thanks for visiting, and come back soon...

Thanks for this Justin Tubb song. Please post Warner Mack's "A girl Like You."

This is really a great song. I too seem to always like lonely songs. I never listened to much by Justin Tubb before. I guess I'll have to rectify that.

@Frank - Glad you like the Tubb track. Sorry I don't seem to have the Warner Mack tune, but if I run across it, I'll send it your way...

@Jim - I was in the same boat on Justin Tubb. Hearing the entirety of his Decca output recently made me realize how great he really is, and this track was a real standout.

Also, I had a little misinformation in my comments above when I said this was a Roger Miller tune. He is on harmony, but it's a Justin Tubb composition. So I wanted to make sure I wasn't spreading bad info...
